Why Choose Binda?
When Binda Baby Essentials was born our mission was to create a range that ticked the three boxes that no other baby skin care range did. This is what places Binda ahead of the rest!
1. Binda uses 100% chemical free, pure, natural ingredients.

When Binda first started its research into the current baby skin care market, it didn’t take long to realise that the products available were falsely claiming they were ‘safe’ and ‘natural’. When we scratched the surface of these loosely used terms it was clear that most products contained toxic substances that are actually banned in many other countries. And so we simply created our own unique and 100% natural products. Not 99% natural, just 100% pure natural ingredients!
2. Binda is free from sodium hydroxymethylglycinate.

Sodium hydroxymethylglycinate is described as a ‘natural’ preservative and used largely by natural and organic companies. Unfortunately sodium hydroxymethylglycinate decomposes very rapidly in water to release formaldehyde (a chemical banned by the US, Japan, Sweden and Canada), yet certified organic companies in Australia continue to use it. For a more detailed explanation on this preservative please go to ‘Ingredients To Avoid’.
3. Binda’s products are hypoallergenic and minimalist.

Allergy in children is on the increase. And while some ingredients are natural and show therapeutic benefits in adults, they have been shown to be harmful to children. For example Lavender is a very strong herb, and whilst being a great relaxant for adults, its strong properties are not suitable for babies and children. There is evidence that it can affect the hormone levels in children and while the jury is still out on this research we erred on the side of caution at Binda and decided to simply leave it out.
Then there is Shea butter. It contains natural latex and people with latex allergies are warned to be cautious of this ingredient. Adding to this, people with known latex allergies are 50% more likely to be allergic to Avocado. So again we decided to leave these ‘safe’ ingredients out.
Peanut allergy has doubled in the last 5 years. In fact 1 in 50 children suffers from peanut allergy. The only proven treatment is avoidance so it made sense to us to use absolutely no nut ingredients in our products. Just a little note - one of our ingredients, coconut, is actually from the seed family and not a nut.
Binda’s minimalist formula means that we have around half the number of ingredients than other baby skin care ranges. This is important because children have immature digestive and excretory systems that we don’t want to bombard with so many ingredients, natural or otherwise. Similar to the introduction of solids, when using skincare products you want to take it slowly and give your little one’s body time to recognise and memorise these new ingredients. At 6 months of age you simply wouldn’t give your baby a complex meal with multiple additives, it would be too much for him or her. Skin care really is no different.
