Aloe Vera (aloe barbadensis)
Aloe Vera is an amazing plant for many reasons. Firstly, it penetrates human skin up to four times faster than water leaving the skin beautifully hydrated. Secondly, its strong anti-inflammatory properties make it ideal for use on dermatitis, sensitive and irritated skin.
This lovely additive to Binda products is healing, soothing, hydrating, softening & promotes cell renewal.
Virgin Apricot Kernel Oil (prunus armeniaca)
Virgin apricot kernel oil is an emollient (softens and soothes the skin) that is very popular for massage and is also well known for its moisturising and revitalising properties.
Binda uses this oil as it is great for newborn dry/sensitive skin, is rich in essential fatty acids and plentiful in anti-oxidant vitamins A, C and E. This light yet rich oil is perfectly suited for babies and children.
Beeswax
Beeswax is a great natural thickener/emulsifier (binds the water and oil components) that has the amazing ability to protect the skin by increasing the skin’s essential moisture content and also acts as an anti-inflammatory.
Cetyl Stearyl Alcohol (plant wax)
Cetyl Stearyl Alcohol is a great emulsifier (binds the water and oil components) or thickening agent derived from palm and coconut oils. It is not actually an “alcohol”, which would dry the skin, but rather a wax.
It enhances Binda products by leaving the skin with a velvety finish.
Citrozine (orange seed extract)
At Binda we are so proud to be using Citrozine. This certified organic orange extract is a wonderful natural preservative. Unlike commonly used synthetic preservatives, Citrozine is non-toxic, non-allergic and non-mutagenic and therefore won’t trouble your baby’s delicate skin.
Cocobetaine (coconut derivative)
Cocobetaine is a natural surfactant (detergent) derived from the fatty acids of coconut. It has antiseptic properties and won’t irritate or dry the skin.
Virgin Coconut Oil (cocos nucifera)
Virgin Coconut Oil is a Binda favourite! It is so rich in amazing properties we just can’t get enough of it. It has been found to contain 40% lauric acid, which is a fatty acid found in breast milk. The body converts it into a substance that fights bacterial, viral, and protozoal infection in infants, therefore helping your baby’s immune system to stay healthy.
It is an excellent emollient (softens and soothes) and is easily absorbed by human skin. Its rich, smooth, creamy texture beautifully nourishes and locks in moisture.
Glyceryl Monostearate (natural emulsifier)
Glyceryl Monostearate is a gentle vegetable based emulsifier (binds the water and oil components). It is a dispersing agent with skin softening properties.
Glycerine (vegetable)
Vegetable Glycerin is a 100% plant based, humectant (draws water to the skin’s surface) usually derived from palm or coconut oils.
It provides emollient like properties that wonderfully soften and soothe the skin, locking moisture into the driest of skin types.
Guar Gum (cyamposis tetragonoloba)
Guar Gum is an emulsifier (binds the water and oil components) made from ground guar beans. In our products it acts as a natural thickener, that when combined with water, forms a gel.
Jasmine Oil (jasminium grandiflorum)
Jasmine is known as the ‘king of the flowers’ and has long been used for its divine scent, rich and warm with floral tea–like undertone. We use the flower for its soothing, anti–inflammatory and healing properties.
It is especially wonderful for babies or children’s skin or scalp aggravated by eczema or dermatitis.
Jojoba Seed Oil (simmondisia chinesisl)
Jojoba oil is very similar to human sebum, (the oil produced on human skin) making it very skin compatible. It is a wonderful additive to protect against cradle cap, as it removes the excess sebum that contributes to this condition. This humectant (draws water to the skins surface) creates a protective film over the skin and seals in moisture making it ideal for dry skin.
Rich in vitamin E and anti-oxidant properties it leaves the skin smooth, supple and balanced.
Mandarin Oil (citrus madurensis)
Children, pregnant women and the young at heart frequently enjoy this deliciously scented oil. In France, Mandarin Oil is often regarded as the 'children's remedy' because of its gentle and calming action. The peel of this fruit is used for its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to improve skin and scalp circulation. Mandarin essential oil has an intensely sweet, almost floral citrus scent that is wonderfully refreshing.
Useful for morning sickness, mandarin can also ease hiccups and children's tummy upsets. In fact a recent study in a nursing home showed mandarin to be more effective than lavender for insomnia.
Neroli Oil (citrus aurantium)
Neroli is produced from the blossom of the bitter orange tree and used mainly for its fragrance, which is said in aromatherapy to have a soothing effect on the nervous system.
An earthy aroma, with florally notes, this oil is likely to relieve tension and anxiety, while aiding in digestive upsets, making it ideal for little babies and pregnant mummies.
Rice Bran Oil (oryza sativa)
Rice Bran Oil is an extremely gentle oil, high in essential fatty acids, anti-oxidants, anti-cancer properties and vitamin E making this food grade product perfect for your little one’s skin.
It is fast becoming popular in the skin care industry as it is recommended for sufferers of allergy, eczema, dermatitis or sensitive skin, which are becoming more and more prevalent in children.
Salt (sodium stearoyl lactylate)
Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate is a salt derived from stearic acid and lactic acid.
An emulsifier (binds the water and oil components) which is 100% vegetable derived, this ingredient is totally non-irritating to both skin and eyes and is recognised as one of the most skin friendly emulsifiers available.
Sorbitol (fruit derivative)
Sorbitol is derived from fruit such as berries and is a wonderful humectant (draws water to the skins surface) for use in Binda products.
It is light and non-sticky and will help prevent dryness of your baby’s skin.
Sunflower Oil (helianthus annuus)
Sunflower Oil is extracted from the seed of the sunflower plant and used as an emollient (softens and soothes the skin). This golden oil is rich in essential fatty acids, lecithin and vitamins A, B, D and E minerals. With a lovely light texture and fragrance, it is easily absorbed.
It is especially useful in children’s products as it will soothe, soften and protect sensitive skin, by providing a protective layer that holds in moisture.
Tasmanian Spring Water (aqua)
Hydration is vital in children’s skin care.
Children and babies simply have less fluid stores than adults and so at Binda we maintain a good moisture balance by using this pure Tasmanian Spring Water to restore, revitalise and replenish the skin.
Vetivert Oil (vetveria zizanoides)
Vetivert is an essential oil derived from the root of the plant and used mainly for fragrance. The aroma is a deep, smoky, earthy–woody scent with a sweet undertone. Known as the ’oil of tranquillity’ because of its ability to calm and sooth the mind.
Vetivert will help settle the nerves and establish a feeling of balance and grounding in addition to promoting sleep. This very mild and non-irritating essential oil is wonderful for both mind and body.
Vitamin E (tocopherol)
Vitamin E has the ability to moisturise and heal the skin from many different ailments such as burns, dermatitis and eczema. This important ingredient is cell regenerating, not only to the skin, but also the whole body.
Dermatologists recommend vitamin E for a large number of skin diseases and sensitivities as it helps soothe and promote the health of the skin.
White Grapefruit Oil (citrus pardise)
White Grapefruit Oil has a sweet refreshing citrus aroma. It is anti–septic, anti-fungal, and wonderful for the skin and hair. This strong ingredient is often used for skin irritations and is mild enough for use on children.
Ylang Ylang Oil (cananga odorat)
Ylang-Ylang has a fresh, sweet, floral yet delicate aroma and is used medicinally for its calming, soothing and sedative effect. This essential oil balances the skin and assists in the treatment of cradle cap as it reduces sebum production and contains antibacterial elements to help fight infection.
This oil also relieves the irritation of eczema or dermatitis.
